An impressive Tetradrachm from Akanthos of vigorous style

MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 370-360 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 14.32 g, 11 h), Alexios, magistrate. AΛEΞIOΣ Lion right, attacking a bull kneeling left, head upraised. Rev. AKANΘION Quadripartite square with granulated raised fields; all within incuse square. Desneux 151 (D140/R136). A lightly toned example of vigorous style and with excellent surfaces. Minor area of flatness on the lion's head and with small presure marks on its shoulder and on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
